June Goalkeeper Clinics

Keep the momentum going this summer with another opportunity to train, compete, and develop at a high level. Due to the multiple requests after our first wave of summer clinics, Virginia Commonwealth University is excited to announce additional 4-week Goalkeeper Clinics with NEW dates, LATER training times, and LONGER sessions for middle and high school athletes looking to continue their development during the Summer.

Hosted at the VCU Athletic Village and led by VCU Goalkeeper Coach Mario Sequeira Quesada, these high-energy sessions provide a focused, position-specific training environment designed to sharpen technical consistency, improve tactical awareness, and build confidence in goal. With expanded training hours and a fresh opportunity to learn and improve, this next wave of clinics is the perfect way to keep momentum going this summer.

Coach Mario brings a unique blend of high-level playing experience and diverse coaching knowledge. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National D License along with multiple United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diplomas, and has coached both locally and internationally, including a season with CD Malilla in Valencia, Spain. As a goalkeeper coach in the area of Richmond, he has helped develop players to compete at higher levels of the game. Before his collegiate career, Coach Mario represented Costa Rica at the U20 World Cup. His passion for player development and attention to detail create an environment where goalkeepers can truly grow.

Across four progressive weeks, goalkeepers will develop essential skills through position-specific training. Topics include footwork coordination and handling, distribution and shot-stopping, sweeping and 1v1 situations, and managing crosses and reaction play. Each session is designed to challenge players while reinforcing strong habits that translate directly into match performance.

We are offering two clinic options for both middle school and high school athletes, allowing flexibility to fit your schedule. Sessions run weekly in June and July with a built-in weather make-up week in July. All clinics are co-ed and limited in size to ensure individualized coaching and attention.
